Gilda's Club Minnesota is a nonprofit, non-residential cancer support clubhouse serving the Minneapolis area that opened its red doors in 2014 after a community campaign raised the funds to build it. It is an affiliate of the worldwide Cancer Support Community but is independent and funded entirely by local contributions, so every program is free. The clubhouse offers social and emotional support for anyone affected by any type of cancer, including adults, teens and kids, plus the family members, friends and caregivers who care for them; about half of its members are caregivers, loved ones or people living with loss. Guided by licensed mental health professionals and certified volunteers, it runs more than 130 free programs a month, including support and networking groups, education, healthy lifestyle and expressive arts classes, social activities, children and family programs, grief support and resource referrals, in person and virtually. New members start with a New Member Meeting and tour.
