James House is an accredited nonprofit supporting people affected by sexual violence, domestic violence and stalking in the Greater Tri-Cities region of Virginia, including Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Petersburg and the counties of Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Prince George, Surry and Sussex, as well as Fort Lee. It runs a 24/7 hotline and offers advocacy, case management with access to emergency shelter, a food pantry and clothing closet, and support groups for survivors of sexual violence (with separate groups for women and men), childhood sexual abuse and domestic violence. Children affected by violence or abuse can receive individual counseling and group support. All services are trauma-informed, free, confidential, available in English and Spanish, and open to anyone regardless of economic or immigration status, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion or ethnicity.
