Sexual Assault Center (SAC)

The Sexual Assault Center (SAC) in Nashville began in 1978 as a small crisis line and has grown into a statewide leader in sexual assault healing and prevention in Tennessee. Its mission is to provide healing for children, adults and families affected by sexual assault and to end sexual violence through counseling, education and advocacy. Services include trauma-informed therapy, victim advocacy with accompaniment for medical, police and court procedures, support for parents and caregivers, and a 24-hour crisis and support line serving survivors and loved ones across the state. Since 2018 its onsite SAFE Clinic, run in partnership with a local academic medical center, has offered 24/7 medical-legal exams for people recently assaulted in one supportive setting. SAC also trains professionals, campuses and communities to prevent sexual violence and respond with care.
