Tam Bao Meditation Center is one of the largest and oldest Buddhist temples in Louisiana and has served practitioners in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Lafayette since 1985. It follows the Mahayana tradition with a Zen structure rooted in Vietnamese Buddhism and aims to help the public, not only ordained monastics, understand and apply Buddhist teachings. Its grounds include a main meditation hall for up to 150 practitioners, a community center and gardens shaded by live oaks.
