WOAR - Philadelphia Center Against Sexual Violence

WOAR - Philadelphia Center Against Sexual Violence, formerly known as Women Organized Against Rape, was founded in 1971 and incorporated in 1973. It describes itself as Philadelphia's only rape crisis center, the oldest and largest rape crisis center in Pennsylvania, and one of the first in the nation. Its mission is to eliminate all forms of sexual violence through specialized treatment services, prevention education and advocacy for the rights of victims. All direct services are free, including a 24/7 hotline, bilingual and bicultural individual therapy for survivors and loved ones, group therapy, and forensic exam and court accompaniment. It works with survivors regardless of when the violence occurred, offers community trainings with a focus on Philadelphia's Latino communities, and runs a volunteer and internship program.
