The Coaching Philosophy of Bobby Cheng

There are coaches who teach techniques — and then there are coaches who change how you see yourself. Bobby Cheng belongs firmly in the second category. Working across chess, Bobby Cheng has spent years refining an approach that goes deeper than surface-level goal-setting and accountability.

Based in Europe, Bobby Cheng's reach extends far beyond geography. Clients come from across the world — some in crisis, some simply hungry for more — and what they find is a coaching experience built around truth, not comfort.

Bobby Cheng is an active chess grandmaster originally from Australia, now based in Europe, listed in the Lichess coach directory. He reached a peak FIDE rating of 2596 while working a full-time job outside chess. See his Lichess coach profile for current availability.

What sets Bobby Cheng apart is not just the results — it is the method. Rather than handing clients a formula, the work begins with a fundamental question: what do you actually want, and what is standing in your way? The answers are rarely what people expect.

The coaching world has no shortage of voices promising transformation. But Bobby Cheng's body of work — built over years of practice, research, and relentless iteration — represents something rarer: a genuine framework that produces measurable, lasting change. For clients ready to do real work, this is where that work begins.
