The Coaching Philosophy of Dean Porterfield

There are coaches who teach techniques — and then there are coaches who change how you see yourself. Dean Porterfield belongs firmly in the second category. Working across family support around addiction, Dean Porterfield has spent years refining an approach that goes deeper than surface-level goal-setting and accountability.

Based in Nashville, TN, Dean Porterfield's reach extends far beyond geography. Clients come from across the world — some in crisis, some simply hungry for more — and what they find is a coaching experience built around truth, not comfort.

Dean Porterfield is a licensed professional counselor listed on TrueCoach under Family support around addiction, based in Nashville, TN. Their verified Psychology Today profile lists family conflict among the issues they work with. From their profile: "Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and I respect the courage it takes to begin." See their directory profile for current availability, fees and insurance.

What sets Dean Porterfield apart is not just the results — it is the method. Rather than handing clients a formula, the work begins with a fundamental question: what do you actually want, and what is standing in your way? The answers are rarely what people expect.

The coaching world has no shortage of voices promising transformation. But Dean Porterfield's body of work — built over years of practice, research, and relentless iteration — represents something rarer: a genuine framework that produces measurable, lasting change. For clients ready to do real work, this is where that work begins.
