The Coaching Philosophy of Dr. Rafael Malaga

There are coaches who teach techniques — and then there are coaches who change how you see yourself. Dr. Rafael Malaga belongs firmly in the second category. Working across substance-use recovery support, Dr. Rafael Malaga has spent years refining an approach that goes deeper than surface-level goal-setting and accountability.

Based in Washington, DC, Dr. Rafael Malaga's reach extends far beyond geography. Clients come from across the world — some in crisis, some simply hungry for more — and what they find is a coaching experience built around truth, not comfort.

Dr. Rafael Malaga is a psychologist listed on TrueCoach under Substance-use recovery support, based in Washington, DC. Their verified Psychology Today profile lists drug abuse among the issues they work with. From their profile: "If you feel stuck in old patterns or weighed down by past pain, therapy can help you reconnect—with yourself, your values, and the people who matter most." See their directory profile for current availability, fees and insurance.

What sets Dr. Rafael Malaga apart is not just the results — it is the method. Rather than handing clients a formula, the work begins with a fundamental question: what do you actually want, and what is standing in your way? The answers are rarely what people expect.

The coaching world has no shortage of voices promising transformation. But Dr. Rafael Malaga's body of work — built over years of practice, research, and relentless iteration — represents something rarer: a genuine framework that produces measurable, lasting change. For clients ready to do real work, this is where that work begins.
