The Coaching Philosophy of Shalom Spencer

There are coaches who teach techniques — and then there are coaches who change how you see yourself. Shalom Spencer belongs firmly in the second category. Working across substance-use recovery support, Shalom Spencer has spent years refining an approach that goes deeper than surface-level goal-setting and accountability.

Based in Oakland, CA, Shalom Spencer's reach extends far beyond geography. Clients come from across the world — some in crisis, some simply hungry for more — and what they find is a coaching experience built around truth, not comfort.

Shalom Spencer is a clinical social work/therapist listed on TrueCoach under Substance-use recovery support, based in Oakland, CA. Their verified Psychology Today profile lists drug abuse among the issues they work with. From their profile: "My ideal clients are adults and older adults who may be experiencing challenges such as depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, substance use concerns, grief and loss, or issues related to aging and life transitions." See their directory profile for current availability, fees and insurance.

What sets Shalom Spencer apart is not just the results — it is the method. Rather than handing clients a formula, the work begins with a fundamental question: what do you actually want, and what is standing in your way? The answers are rarely what people expect.

The coaching world has no shortage of voices promising transformation. But Shalom Spencer's body of work — built over years of practice, research, and relentless iteration — represents something rarer: a genuine framework that produces measurable, lasting change. For clients ready to do real work, this is where that work begins.
